Cthulhu
Cthulhu
is a role play game produced now, I believe, by Chaosism.
The
game was inspired by the books of Lovecraft, indeed Lovecraft is remembered
more for the horror stories he wrote that provided this inspiration
than for his other poems and works. It is basically a game involving
horror where staying sane is as much of the object as staying alive.
The
players are known as investigators. Generally they discover a sinister
happening, investigate it and try to deal with it. Most of their opposition
are other humans, the few monsters are generally remarkably powerful
and usually have to be banished of imprisoned as they can rarely be
destroyed.
I
have prepared a simple game - no amazing graphics or programmed dice
rolling - to give the favor of Cthulhu I hope I have succeeded. I must
advise that this game is not suitable for children - they have way too
much imagination.
Mr.
Henry works for an agency set up by the British Government to identify
and deal with certain types of incidents. A group of investigators have
been gathered into an area to look into certain 'happenings' and you,
if you play this game, are also there. Your role though is to help and
advise from a distance due to an especial set of skills you have. Firstly
people who do meet you generally quickly forget you. Secondly you can
watch people within a certain range via a crystal ball and finally,
as long as you can see a person, in the flesh or through the ball, you
can implant suggestions into their minds and/or folk to them via their
minds. Through the ball you can see them, the are just around them and
what they can see. You have to meet the people in person to create a
link enabling this. The game starts with a kind of invitation.
Play
instructions - click on underlined links to make decisions. Some objects
in scenes can be examined and an investigator's record can be examined
by clicking on their head. Select "Done" or finished to return
to the scene. If you want to play please click on the line below.
