Here is a story about DraXman by 3d-cc's own Josephine: In the dim distant past, somewhere in Messipotatia, Jeherazada had been pregnant with the child of the Wizard Oomshatlabum. Jeherazada was afraid of Oomshatlabum. He was a very nasty piece of work, so she ran off into the hills to have the baby. The child was a beautiful girl and Jeherazada called her Vicki. After she was born Vicki was given to the owl people for safekeeping and they put her into suspended animation in the treasure cave of one Aji bumba (cousin twice removed from Ali Baba of mythical fame). Generations came and went but eventually a disturbance in the space/time continuum caused the sleeping Vicki to awaken. At the very moment of the disturbance a male child had been born. From that moment on even though they were unaware, their fates were intertwined. Vicki grew into a beautiful voluptuous woman but in the process of her hibernation her body had been covered with feathers possibly from her association with the owl people. Over the years the legend of the Aji bumba treasure and the sleeping Vicki had grown out of all proportion. A band of thugs had heard of the awakening and were tracking Vicki down in the hope of finding the treasure. Little did they know that the treasure was long gone. Hope kindled by rumour and legend, they had at last managed to track her down to the city of New York. A Night in the City. The city was quiet. Peaceful. Unseasonably warm. There was a heaviness in the air. Lightning split the blackness, sending splinters of light into the shadows like shards of glass cutting through the darkness. Gothic strains meandered through DraXman's mind as he wended his way wearily westward. He smiled, self satisfaction surging through him as he remembered the woman. ... and what a woman ... ... voluptuous ... What was her name? Yes that's it ... Vicki. His tongue ran around his lips as he savoured the recollection of the sweetness of her kiss. His reverie was interrupted by a sound nearby. "Sounded like an owl" Strange - he had never heard one in the inner city. Suspicious now, he fell back into the shadows and glided silently in the direction of the call. Every nerve ending in his body tingled as the scent of danger drifted across his nostrils. There was no weariness in him now. A glow emanated from behind a building down an alley to his left. He sidled slowly towards the light, hardly breathing, all senses alert. As he reached the end of the building he stifled a gasp. The alley opened into a small square which was dimly lit by a single street lamp. She stood in the middle of a circle of about a dozen thugs. Tawmy feathers covered her body but the face was unmistakable. His tongue flickered around his lips as the taste of that memorable kiss came into his mouth but almost immediately it was gone. He watched silently, assessing the situation. The thugs circled warily. They seemed afraid to come closer. Within the circle of evil the owl woman circled too, trying to keep them all within her line of vision, but there were too many of them. Behind her, three of the thugs prepared to move in on her. DraXman exploded into action, leaping from the shadows into the circle. Back to back they stood firm, waiting for what was to come. They did not have long to wait. The two seemed to merge into one figure as they fought - in perfect unison. The thugs didn't have a chance. Though they attacked again and again, bodies were flying willy nilly, arms and legs flailing, noses bleeding, eye orbits swelling and blackening, until the few remaining thugs who were still conscious scrambled away into the shadows. The two heroes were left standing back to back alone. Their breathing was fast and stabbing. They turned to face one another, excitement gleaming in their eyes. A smile was twitching at the corner of DraXman's mouth as he saw the light of recognition in her eyes. "We meet again" They linked arms and drifted quietly into the shadows. The lone street lamp flickered and died.
